.) Describe your character’s relationship with their mother or their father, or both. Was it good? Bad? Were they spoiled rotten, ignored? Do they still get along now, or no? Smith had a very open relationship with his parents, the only big secret he kept was that he did not tell them that he was going to enlist. He told them after the fact and that caused his parents to feel he didn’t trust them. When he back from the war, he told how sorry he was and they accepted it.  His parents always taught him to be an independent child. Mom taught him how to cook and wash clothes. Dad taught him about finances and how to sail a boat. Now, with them back, they still have a good relationship. Mom picks on him for being a bit thin, but she’s just doing it lovingly. Dad sees him as a man who is making his own way; he is proud of his son.

.) What are your characters most prominent physical features? His blue eyes. When he’s mad or sad, they look almost navy blue. When he’s happy or in love, they are very bright and open. He has a longer nose, it looks like his father’s.

.) Name one scar your character has, and tell us where it came from. If they don’t have any, is there a reason? He has a scar that runs down the left side of his torso. It’s light white in color. He got in France during a hand-to-hand with a Nazi. The Nazi pulled a knife out his boot and cut Smith. Donny was behind him and hit the guy with his bat, but the Nazi kept coming at him. smith was able to get up and get out his own knife, stabbing the Nazi in the throat. Donny told him it was a good team effort so they split the scalp, giving Smith 100 and a half.

.) How vain is your character? Do they find themselves attractive? Smith thinks he is an average looking guy, but sometimes jokes around about himself being super gorgeous. He thinks he’s funny and focuses more on his sense of humor than how he looks. He does keep himself clean shaven or trimmed nicely and takes good care of his hair and body. He doesn’t exercise all the time because he is on his feet all day at work. During holidays if he feels run down from sitting around too much, he’ll go to a museum, the beach or for a walk to get some activity. He pays attention to what he wears but doesn’t spend a lot on them.

.) What’s your character’s ranking on the Kinsey Scale? Smith gets a 1 because he is straight and has always been attracted to girls and has dated only girls, but maybe if the right guy came along and if the other guy had very VERY strong feelings for him, and Smith could see it, he might give it a try. When he is in love, he listens to his heart and he still trusts it even after a bad first love. It’s a slim chance for him but I wouldn’t completely say no to the idea.

.) Describe your character’s happiest memory. Smith’s childhood was calm for the most part expect for his painful romance as a young man. This mostly easy life gave him an optimistic outlook that got him through the war. Being home he had to regain some of his normal happiness after all that he saw. He getting back to his old tough self but seeing his parents die and knowing he was going to live forever was so hard. His happiest memory is the first time he meet Snow and when she brought back his parents. Looking into her eyes and seeing them again gave him a great hope that is helping him protect Snow from all the terrors that the queen sends.

.) Is there one event or happening your character would like to erase from their past? Why? Smith would rather work through things than forget them. He believes all memories are important and doesn’t want to lose any.

________________________________________________

.) Favorites! What’s your character’s favorite ice cream flavor? Color? Song? Flower? His favorite ice cream flavor is cookie dough, to awesome dessert in one is what he sees that as. His favorite color is blue because of the ocean. He really can’t pinpoint a favorite song because he doesn’t listen to much music. His favorite flower is a rose because of Snow.

.)  Who does your character trust? Smith trusts his parents, any of the Basterds, Snow, and even Magnus.

.) Can you define a turning point in your character’s life? Multiples are acceptable. The first turning point was when he joined the army. Before hand, even though he was independent, he still had sort of innocence. He never used a gun before or got into a fight. After the war, he say the world was still beautiful but there was darkness. Now with his training, he was not afraid of it and knew he could defend himself from anything that comes his way. The second turning point was talking to Snow about his first love. Her name was Kate she broke his heart. He carried around the box her engagement ring came in for so long until he talk things through with Snow and tossed the ring box out his apartment window. That opened him up love again.

.) Is there an animal you equate with your character? An owl; smart, a hunter (fighting skills), independent.

.) How is your character with technology? Super savvy, or way behind the times? Letters or email?  Smith is behind the times sort of. He has modern kitchen applicances, a tv, a radio, a house with an answering machine but he has no cell phone or computer. If he wants to contact someone he callls them or sometimes he likes to read a letter.

.) What does your character’s bed look like when he/she wakes up? Are the covers off on one side of the bed, are they all curled around a pillow, sprawled everywhere? In what position might they sleep? Smith is on his back sprawled out, the sheet half on him, some pillows on the bed and some on the floor.
