I’m Smithson Utivich. During the war I reached the rank of Private First Class. I didn’t plan on sticking around to go any higher. I came and did what I had to do. I’m pretty proud of that.
I was born and raised in a small town in Massachusetts. My father owned a grocery store. Mom always took care of the house and our garden. I have no siblings. I thought Mom was going to kill me when I told her I had enlisted.
After the war, I spent most of my time traveling around. Then I guess you could say I got homesick for the States. I currently live in New York City. Although I’m not a fan od crowds, there is good food, places to go, and easy transportation to get out.
As far as a job, mines pretty good. I took a break from traveling about and settled in Stornoway on the Isle of Lewis, part of Scotland’s Western Isles. I pursued an education for a job in the medical field. One could also say I pursued beer and girls but neither of those worked out too well for me. Here in New York, New York I help out at a small clinic. The pay isn’t great but the hours are.
With that free time, I just can’t sit still. If I’m reading, I’m in the park or at a library. Museums and sites are entertaining. The ocean and I never seem to be far from each other. Watching boats out in the water is as still as I get. I’m lucky to be here and I’ll be damned if I sit back and let life slip past me.
Anything else, well, you’re just going to have to ask about it. I like to keep some stuff to myself; don’t go prying into my closet too fast. I’m not shy, just careful. We all have secrets. Some of us more than others.
If you’re an old friend, refresh my memory and we’ll see where we can start off.
If you’re new, feel free to ask those question in your head or start off a conversation.
And, one last thing. Let’s get something clear. I am five feet and eight and a half inches tall. I am no ‘Little Man’.
